Pterostyrax hispida (Fragrant Epaulette Tree)

Height: 40 feet
Spread: 35 feet
Light: Full to part sun. Blooms best in more sun.
Soil: Amended, moist but well-drained soil. Drought tolerant once established.
Description: A wonderful, rare specimen tree! Deciduous tree with a graceful spreading, open habit. Exceptionally large leaves are green on top and grey-green on the bottom and take on yellow hues in fall. Fragrant, white, bell-shaped flowers adorn the tree in drooping panicles in late spring and then give way to clusters of ribbed fruit in fall. An unusual, eye-catching specimen. Use as a central shade-giving focal point in the garden.
