Persimmon 'Tanenashi' (Tanenashi Persimmon)

Description: Astringent Persimmon. Self-pollinating fruit tree with a slightly rounded form. Grows at a medium pace and produces fruit prolifically at a young age. Attractive red fall color. Yellow flowers in spring form reddish-orange, medium-sized fruit in fall. Harvest when fruit reaches its deepest color and allow to sit a few days to soften. Flesh is yellow and sweet when ripe. Softening process can be expedited by storing fruit with apples and bananas or by placing in the freezer for a day or so and then allowing to thaw.
Grows 20’ - 30’ tall and wide. Prune in winter to control size and branching.
