Chionanthus virginicus (American Fringe Tree)

Height: 10-20 feet
Spread: 10-20 feet
Light: Full sun to part shade but happiest in high filtered light.
Soil: Amended, moist but well-drained soil. Will need additional watering during drought.
Description: Deciduous native tree or large shrub with a rounded, spreading habit. Tolerates heat and pollution - a perfect tree for urban gardens. Buttery yellow fall color. Deciduous. White, slightly fragrant flowers gracefully drape the branches in spring. Pollinated flowers give way in late summer to dark olive-like fruit that birds love. Works well in a variety of gardens from rustic to contemporary. A great specimen!
