Soil: Amended, evenly moist soil. Very durable once established.
Description: Native to the midwest and east coast of the U.S. 3 to 5-inch long light green leaves. Deciduous. Excellent bright yellow fall color. Yellow fuzzy flowers are dioecious (means some are male, some are female). If you are growing for fruit, plant in mass to ensure pollination. Well utilized in the mixed shrub border or for naturalizing. Spicebush swallowtail butterfly feeds on the leaves of this shrub.
