Ilex verticillata 'Winter Gold' (Gold Winterberry Holly)

Height: 10 feet
Spread: 10 feet
Light: Part sun to part shade
Soil: Amended, well-drained soil and average water needs once established.
Description: Deciduous, multi-stemmed shrub with green leaves that blush yellow and red in fall. Small white flowers in June give way to a brilliant explosion of reddish-golden berries that persist from early fall through winter. Plant in mass at the end of a woodland garden for a wonderful late season effect. Cuttings can be used in wreaths and other holiday decorations. This is a female plant and will need to be pollinated by Ilex ‘Southern Gentleman’ to make berries.
