Corylopsis pauciflora (Buttercup Winter Hazel)

Soil: Moist, amended, well-drained soil.
Description: Native to western Japan and Taiwan, buttercup winter hazel is a dense, spreading, multi-stemmed, deciduous shrub and features small drooping clusters of mildly fragrant primrose yellow flowers in early spring. Flowers appear before the leaves unfold. Corylopsis is closely related to and in the same family as witch hazel (Hamamelis).
