Callicarpa acuminata (Mexican Beautyberry; Black Beautyberry)

Height: 6-8 feet
Spread: 6-8 feet
Light: Full sun to part shade.
Soil: Amended, moist but well-drained soil. Give extra water in more sun. Drought tolerant once established.
Description: Deciduous shrub with large, almost tropical-looking medium green leaves held on gracefully arching stems. Pink flower clusters in late summer give way to black berries in fall that persist through winter. Very dramatic once the leaves have dropped. Plant in mass for a spectacular winter display or pair with golden Chamaecyparis or silver Teucrium.
