Amelanchier canadensis (Canadian Serviceberry)

Height: 20 feet
Spread: 20 feet
Light: Full sun to part shade.
Soil: Amended, moist soil. Tolerant of wet spots.
Description: Deciduous, native, multi-stemmed shrub with an open, rounded habit. Usually limbed up to reveal the grey-green, striped bark. Small, round, green leaves blush brilliant yellow, orange, and red in fall. In mid-spring, the tree is covered in small white flowers that give way to edible, red fruit in fall. As the berries age, they turn an eye-catching shiny black and persist through winter.
Use as a lovely native specimen, or mass together to form a 3-season hedge.
