Viola labradorica (Alpine Violet)

Height: 4-6 inches
Spread: As wide as you let it
Light: Part-sun to shade. Does best in high, filtered light or morning sun.
Soil: Amended, moist but well-drained soil.
Description: Herbaceous groundcover native to moist woodlands in North America. Dark green-purple, heart-shaped foliage. Very striking. Small, lavender flowers emerge in mid-spring. Use as a naturalizing groundcover in the woodland or rock garden. Looks great when planted under larger perennials like grasses or hostas.
