Pennisetum alopecuroides 'Red Head' (Red Head Fountain Grass)

Height: 4-5 feet
Spread: 4-5 feet
Light: Full sun
Soil: Average, well-drained soil
Description: Herbaceous perennial grass that forms a clump of medium green blades that turn russet-yellow in fall. In midsummer, purple buds on upright stalks open to reveal rusty-purple flower plumes that persist through fall. Allow the seed heads to remain through winter – birds love them and they’re great in cut arrangements. Use in mass or in the back of the mixed bed. Prune to 3” in spring as new growth emerges.
